Description
This smaller version of the Red King Crab is still the size of a quarter, and equally detailed. I was introduced to the economic importance of the Red King Crab to Alaska while travelling with the Canadian Coast Guard researching a story on their Arctic mandate*. We made a couple of stops in Dutch Harbour, Alaska, a tiny hamlet but one of North America’s most important fishing ports. This and the large crab were originally designed for a gift store in the town.
